Pam Temple based this song on a story told to her by Prudence Hunt, both members of the Queen City Balladeers, a "folk club" in Cincinnati that has been in existence since 1963. Pam and her husband, Spencer Funk, live in Cincinnati. Pam is on air in the evenings on WNKU, an NPR station that plays roots and Americana music. WNKU also does a lot to support the local music scene. Spencer teachers guitar and mandolin.
