"The Prince" is the first song Madeon completed for Good Faith but it didn't make the final tracklist, he thought it was too dark for the album. As he describes it: "It's a bit of a darker prologue to Good Faith." On May 9 2020 he spontaneously decided to play it out for the first time during Porter Robinson's online festival "Secret Sky". The song was never intended for release but a Twitter poll convinced him to give the track a proper release.
