"The Other" is a conceptual song left up to interpretation. The very end of the song features what is known as the "Wow!" signal, a strong narrowband radio signal detected on August 15, 1977. It is often used to support the search for extraterrestrial intelligence or life. The addition of this signal to the song, as well as the title suggests there is a theme of otherworldly or extraterrestrial beings. This is the first conceptual song written by the band.
