"The Need to Be Naked" was the second single from Amber's 2001 CD "Naked". The artist was under pressure to re-create the success of 1999's "Sexual (Li Da Di)" and worked again with hit songwriters Billy Steinberg and Rick Nowels on this track. Amber expressed her frustration at the time that some people were taking the track too literally. The track is about baring oneself not only physically but also spiritually and emotionally.
