THE MEXICAN TAPES (1979) is a Super 8 color film and an 8 track stereo mix audio tape soundtrack containing spoken text, music, and sound effects. The music tracks use synthesizer electric keyboard, percussion, and vocals, polyrythmic repetitive phrasing, references to Mayan, Aztec, and Peruvian ritual music, and environmental sound. The recording process itself is used as an instrument.
