"The First Taste" seems to be about a woman who is deeply infatuated with someone and is eagerly waiting for them to take the initiative to start a romantic relationship. In the first verse, she acknowledges that she is caught in this person's web and that waiting for them to make a move has left her feeling weary. In the chorus, she pleads to have the first taste of a romantic relationship and asks the other person to take the initiative and start pursuing her.
