The doldrums is a specific region of equatorial ocean where there is little breeze. During periods stuck in the doldrums, a ship is unable to move due the lack of wind. The monotony slowly drives sailors to extreme boredom, slowly eroding mental health. Here the oceanic doldrums are a metaphor for waiting for drug deliveries so you can deal and make money. There are the physical and psychological dangers of the forced wait (“you don’t work, you don’t eat”)
