This was discovered a few years ago whilst out with portable recorder at a Sea Shanty Festival.Originally by Yorkshire duo Hissyfit, it has beautiful interwoven harmonies and a sense of melancholly. The narrative focuses on Humber Trawlermen stranded on sandbanks waiting for the tide to turn after stormy days at sea.The lights and sounds of the town, their families and the Minerva pub are tantilisingly close yet just out of reach. Sweet Minerva is a song that you hear once and the melody stays with you.
