The Americus Brass Band is an American Civil War reenactment band from California. They were founded in 1976 by students at Cal State-Long Beach. The band is named after a town in Georgia whose civilian band enlisted in the 4th Georgia Volunteer Infantry. Playing on original period over-the-shoulder saxhorns, the group has achieved a high level of musical performance and artistry. Because of their musical excellence and attention to authenticity the band has appeared in several hollywood movies
