Kool & the Gang's Summer Madness is an instrumental song released in 1974 on their album Light of Worlds. The song peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 36 on the Hot Soul Singles charts. As the album's standout track, it features smooth melodies and distinctive synthesizer work. With over 145 recordings sampling it as of 2018, it has become one of the most sampled R&B compositions ever. The band later released it as a single, followed by a companion piece titled Winter Sadness on their 1975 album Spirit of the Boogie.
