The song "Step by Step" was written by American-Canadian musician Jesse Winchester and was first recorded and released by him in 1976 on his album Let the Rough Side Drag. In 2002 (the year he moved back to the United States), the song was used as background music for the montage that ended the first season of the television series "The Wire".
