"Spindrifter" is a tune written by renowned English session keyboardist Nicky Hopkins. Hopkins joined American band Quicksilver Messenger Service for their 1969 album "Shady Grove" (where Hopkins' virtuoso piano boogie dominates the album giving it a unique sound within the QMS catalogue). From 1969 to 1970, Hopkins was a full member of QMS, appearing on Shady Grove (1969), Just for Love (1970) and What About Me (1970). He apparently left QMS during
