The Something To Believe In Songfacts reports that the song finds frontman Will Anderson singing about trying to find hope when times are tough. He told the story of the song in an interview with AOL Music: "It was a song I wrote when I was writing Losing Sleep, but I kind of put away and didn't think about. [Bassist] Alex [Hargrave] was nice enough and smart enough to bring it up from the dead and said, 'We got to play this song.' He was demanding it so we did it.
