This song is about a young boy named John Kenneth Autry who died at the age of nine years old. Patrick Newkirk and John were cousins and born just months apart, even though they were cousins they seemed more like brothers, so this song is about Patrick's personal loss off his childhood friend. Snow, Oklahoma is an actual town in the southeastern part of the state of Oklahoma and John's parents still live there.
