Mick Woodmansey was the only Spider not to feature on Mick Ronson's debut solo album, recorded at the Château d'Hérouville where David Bowie had just made Pin Ups. Released in 1974, Slaughter On 10th Avenue's title track is a gangster ballet by Richard Rodgers, the perfect showcase for Ronson's theatricality and sensitivity, and his virtuosity.
