"Sketches of Winkle" is the 18th track on Ween's second studio album The Pod. It's a muddy heavy metal banger about relationship issues. The narrator senses tension between his romantic interest and her partner, yet, to his confusion, they remain together. Our protagonist, while not a part of the culture that his romantic interest belongs to, has poked and lurked around enough to understand it. The titular sketches of Rip Van Winkle serves as a metaphor for how our protagonist is behind the times regarding his romantic interest.
