"This was a last-minute addition to the record. We knew we needed an album opener, and we wanted something that was more of an introduction or a prelude before the album really kicks in. We thought it would be kind of unexpected to open the album with acoustic guitar. It’s slightly ironic, because the song is really a farewell. It’s about saying goodbye to someone before going away, and recognizing that you probably won’t be the same person when you get back.
