Silly Girl was written by Bill Stevenson while Descendents was on a hiatus. Originally, Silly Girl was nothing more than an instrumental track written for Black Flag, in which Bill Stevenson was drumming for. Not believing it to suit Black Flag's rough, ragged style, Stevenson brought it to Milo Aukerman. He showed him the track and sang the words "Silly Girl" over it, and Aukerman quite liked it. This promptly ended their hiatus, kickstarting their second studio release in 1985.
