Released in October of 1984, "Sidewalk Talk" was the lead single from Jellybean's EP Wotupski!?!. The song was written (and it features background vocals) by Madonna. Lead vocals and rap are performed by Catherine Buchanan. The single reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs. It took more than eight months for the single be released in a 7" format, which allowed it to cross over to the pop charts. It eventually peaked at #18 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
