Released on July 29th 2002 as the second single for George Michael's fifth album Patience, Shoot The Dog is a funk-inspired political protest song. It critiques American president George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The satirical music video is animated in a political cartoon style and contains references to the Simpsons, his past career controversies, and the War on Terror. Critics labeled the track as "career suicide" and controversy arose due to its anti Iraq War stance.
