“SAN MARCOS” references the boyband’s beginnings in San Marcos, Texas, and how their wish to leave their past behind to begin again, similar to how they started back in San Marcos. Kevin Abstract, in a Fader 2017 interview explains the sentimental value San Marcos has had for BROCKHAMPTON: “I’m just gonna make my own thing and I’m gonna build it how I want to…We’re making a new thing…That’s kinda what happened. We had moved to San Marcos, TX, at the time. It was a nice fresh start.”
