This was the theme NBC used when they had the rights to broadcast NBA basketball, from 1990 to 2002. The early years of the WNBA, which were also broadcast on NBC, used a remix. When ABC took the rights in 2002, Roundball Rock was reportedly offered to them for use, but they declined it in favor of their own theme.
