"Rope Burn" is a song recorded by American singer Janet Jackson for her sixth studio album The Velvet Rope. It was written and produced by Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with additional writing by René Elizondo Jr. One of the most sexually explicit songs by the singer, it expresses fantasies of BDSM but more specifically ropes and restraints. Janet said in a 1997 interview with Planet Groove that although she does not particularly love pain play as the song suggests
