“Road“ is the third track from Nick Drake's third and final studio album, Pink Moon. Towards the end, Drake became very disgruntled about his lack of success as a musician, especially since his immense gifts were apparent to the few that knew him well – and to himself, of course. Watching others get carried up and away to the stars both metaphorical and colloquial (famous musicians are often called ‘stars,’ after all,) Drake couldn’t help but adopt a grim resolve, deciding to set off down the road destined for him.
