The “River Lea” is a real river that flows through the north and east of Adele’s childhood city of London. It also has a section named the River Lea Navigation, which is canalised. In an interview with NPR, Adele discussed how the river is connected with her life. "A lot of my life was spent walking alongside the River Lea to go and get to somewhere else. It linked quite a lot of estates to each other, so that’s how you’d meet up with your friends.
