Cab Volt had always been at the forefront of the English post-punk/ industrial sound that had particularly come out of the northern labour towns like Sheffield (where CV are hailed) and nearby Leeds. Cab Volt, however, borrowed from the dark sound of industrial and merged it with the exploding British Electronic Foundation. Red Mask is a swirl of psychedelic 60's guitar with the reverb tweeked to such a degree the whole song sounds like its turning against itself.
