“Rainbow” recorded in 1957 reached number 4 in the US chart making Russ Hamilton the first Liverpool artist to have a hit in US many years before the Beatles. The flip side “We Will Make Love” was Russ Hamilton’s first hit in Britain and sold a million copies for a gold disc. It reached number 2 in the British chart. In 1957, chart success in the U.S. was a very unusual feat for an English performer and so it made Hamilton a very hot property for a while.
