Song
"Pretty Ballerina" was written by Michael Brown of The Left Banke, and released as a single in December 1966. It hit #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song describes a young man on a date with a pretty girl, possibly Renee Fladen (the subject of other Left Banke songs, such as Walk Away Renee.) At the end of the song, he realizes it was just a dream (And when I wake on a dreary Sunday morning; I open up my eyes to find there's rain). Yet, he is inspired to meet the girl in his dreams again, so he is driven to fall asleep once more.
