Flowing directly either from the introduction (CD) or ending (vinyl) of "10 Miles High," it opens immediately with the verse drum loop, synthesized bass, and reversed guitars for eight bars before reducing to the first verse, accompanying Trent Reznor's vocals with only the drum loop and a bass riff. Other synthesizer and guitar layers join in to lead into the pre-chorus, with Reznor accompanying himself as a backing vocalist.
