"Planxty Irwin" is a tune composed by Irish harpist Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) for Colonel John Irwin of Tanrego House in County Sligo, probably not long after the Peace of Utrecht in 1713, presumably in his honour after his death (planxty being a term apparently invented or popularised to signify a tribute to a merry host).
