"Piel" is the first track and third single to be released from Arca's self-titled album. Its release, on February 22nd, 2017, was met with the first announcements of her self-titled album alongside an "alt version" with a short 33-second long music video. It displays the first time she ever released a track with her own singing, which she discussed with Crack Magazine prior, citing fellow musician and collaborator Björk as her inspiration: "I don't know if I would've ever sung on this record if it weren't for Björk.
