In the chorus, he describes how all of the alcohol and models in the world could not replace the girl who left him. He also expresses his loss of faith in God. This is shown by his use of religious symbolism throughout the song, for example: "Say my prayers, but I lost faith a long time ago" The title of the song may be a nod to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1999 hit “Otherside.”
