“Only Friend” is the introductory track of Wallows' debut album, Nothing Happens. Sonically, it is reminiscent of the band’s Spring EP, which allows it to function as an effective transition from the older era of Wallows into the newer era. Fittingly, the track is about the loss of innocence, as the band move from their teenage years into adulthood.
