This song uses a complex rhythm. It's mostly in 3/4, but switches to 4/4 for the chorus. Hendrix used an octavia on this, which is a device that could raise or lower a guitar by an octave. Roger Mayer developed the octavia for Hendrix. This is also known as "Golden Rose." Brian May covered this on his 1998 solo album Another World featuring Cozy Powell on drums and Neil Murray on bass.
