"On the Sea" is the ninth track from Beach House's fourth studio album Bloom, which was released on May 15, 2012. Relying on no percussion or live drums, "On the Sea" is a ballad which features a gently-strummed guitar chords and a piano which slowly fades in, being more of an ambient track approach. Midway through the track, a cello comes in and the song begins gaining its intensity even without drums, with its instrumental layers fading out with wind-like sound effects
