When going on a journey they would wake long before dawn and set off as soon as it became light, because in the middle part of the day the heat and the glare of the sun on the lake are unbearable. “Most places just watch the sun, and as soon as it appears over the hills that is the first hour of the day.” She travelled with her tour manager Absalom and a group of young African men.
