Old Town" was released by Thin Lizzy frontman Philip Lynott as part of his 1982 self-titled solo album, The Philip Lynott Album. The recording now sounds rather dated - featuring synthetic drums, thin EQ and an over-fussy arrangement - but the strength of the melody and lyric shines through. Phil Lynott was a gifted melodicist and this track is a good example of the auld rake at his bittersweet best. The track was the first record to be officially played on Irish legal Independent Radio.
