Blige, released from the soundtrack to the 1995 film Waiting to Exhale on January 23, 1996, the song is also included on Mary's third album, Share My World (1997). Written & produced by Babyface, the lyrics of the song are inspired by a storyline in the movie Waiting to Exhale revolving around one of the movie's main characters, Bernadine (played by actress Angela Bassett), who gets abandoned by her philandering husband.
