The song was written by Usher alongside its producers Manuel Seal and Jermaine Dupri, the latter of whom provides an uncredited guest appearance and backing vocals. Despite moderate airplay, the single sold well and reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in August 1998 for 3 consecutive weeks, held off the top spot by Brandy & Monica's smash duet "The Boy Is Mine" which spent 12 consecutive weeks at the summit.
