"Moon over Bourbon Street" is the fifth single from Sting's solo debut album "The Dream of the Blue Turtles". The song reached number 44 on the UK Singles Chart. Its title references Bourbon Street in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. Sting composed the song in New Orleans, drawing inspiration from Anne Rice's gothic novel "Interview with the Vampire". He described the novel as portraying a vampire who becomes immortal by accident and must kill to survive, yet retains a conscience, creating a duality that interested him.
