"Monkey" is a song by singer and songwriter George Michael of pop duo Wham!, solely written by George Michael & produced by himself alongside production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. It was released as the sixth single to George's debut solo album Faith (1987) on July 4, 1988. In a retrospective interview about the Faith album in 2010, George noted that "Monkey" was inspired by a friend of his dealing with drug and alcohol addiction but he did not know how to help her.
