Portraying a day in Manhattan, Metroplex was written for the Normal West Wind Ensemble's debut performance at Carnegie Hall in 2005. It begins with a glorious fanfare, portraying New Yorks famous skyline. It then moves into a slow jazz section with a Trumpet and Alto Sax and a recurring English Horn Theme. The final movement is a fast paced collection of mixed metter rythms and dizzying woodwind runs, showing the orginized chaos of rush hour.
