“Mercury” sees Steve Lacy both remorseful and bitter about a past relationship, ultimately showing his double-sided nature. He does this over slick bossa nova production, with supporting vocals from Fousheé. Marking his first solo product since 2020’s The Lo-Fis, “Mercury” is also the lead single to his album Gemini Rights. Lacy teased this song during live performances and in Instagram live streams numerous times before release.
