“Mean It” is the first collaboration between pop artists Lauv and LANY. The song describes the feeling of wanting to mean more to someone who only sees you as a second choice. Lauv told The Line of Best Fit that “I started "Mean It” from the perspective of what I thought somebody might want to say to me.“ And then he got Paul on the track: "Paul and I had been talking about working together for a long time, then one day I texted him the idea for the song and it just clicked.
