Frank Sinatra hadn't recorded Mack the Knife until Quincy Jones suggested it for the 1984 ''LA Is My Lady." Ol Blue Eyes was specifically looking for songs he had missed over the years, and after a quick 'Body & Soul,' he wondered aloud why he was re-doing songs he had done earlier. Stormy Weather deserved the update and Mack the Knife, with the nice credits to previous singers who had sone it so well, seemed to fit into what FS wanted LA Is My Lady to be.
