"Lullaby" was written for the Canadian Shakespeare Festival in 1983. It is part of the play "Blake" by Elliott Hayes, a Canadian playwright. The music was composed and performed by Loreena McKennitt. The lyric is a poem by William Blake, originally titled "Prologue, Intended for a Dramatic Piece of King Edward the Fourth." In the song it is recited by actor Douglas Campbell who, born in Scotland, has lived in Canada for a long time. He also was the sole actor in the monologue "Blake."
