“Love To Lay” is Abel’s recognition of the fact that there are women similar to him – who don’t actively look for love and relationships. The woman who Abel used to love only wanted to lay down for the night, making loving her uneasy. The song has a similar theme to “Rockin' ” and “Party Monster,” but instead this time Tesfaye feels what it’s like to be the victim that confuses love with occasional sex. It could be a sample of “Radio Ga Ga” by Queen as both instrumentals sound very similar.
