This version was produced by former Motown songwriter and producer Norman Whitfield for the Whitfield Records. Lead vocals were sung by Gwen Dickey. The song appeared on the 1978 album Rose Royce III: Strikes Again! and reached #32 on the Billboard Hot 100, higher than any of the numerous covers performed by other artists. This version also reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart.
