"Linus and Lucy" was originally written for Vince Guaraldi's 1964 album A Boy Named Charlie Brown (aka Jazz Impressions of ABNCB). It made its first appearance in the Peanuts specials as part of the soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas, which features an iconic scene in which a number of characters dance to the music. Despite originating as a character leitmotif (for the characters indicated in the title; Linus and Lucy Van Pelt) it has become the de facto theme of the Peanuts franchise as a whole, appearing in numerous subsequent specials.
