The 1977 hit (reached #11 in the charts) – a story of a gambler/robber wanna be, based, according to his writers – Boz Scaggs and future Toto co-founder David Paich – based on a Fats Domino’s 1949 “The Fat Man” From the acclaimed 1976 album. (Grammy nominee) That also yielded his biggest hit, “Lowdown”. One of the odd songs where the title (“Lido Shuffle”) never appears in the lyrics. The shuffle is a dance beat, the rhythm, but in this song it can also refer to shuffling cards, part of the gambling theme.
